Indoor yoga just can't compare to practicing in the great outdoors. This 3-hour yoga hike at Wadsworth Falls State Park incorporates Taoist yoga postures, stretching exercises and meditation done at scenic areas of the park. We will start with some Qi Qong movement and breathing at the small brook near the picnic tables. At the first water fall, Little Falls, we'll practice some standing and sitting Taoist yoga poses with breathing meditation. Finally, we will arrive at Wadsworth Falls to do some more meditation and a group energy-sharing circle to say goodbye.
Please pack a light lunch and bring a blanket or a mat to practice on.
The cost of the hike is $5-$15 (sliding scale) to cover meetup costs.
There will be a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 participants.
Beginners are welcome! You will receive instructions on how to move in and out of the yoga and Qigong postures safely.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What should I bring to a Yoga Hike?
1) Wear comfortable clothing that allows some range of motion for the yoga stretches and Qigong exercises. Layers may be appropriate depending on the weather.
2) Trail running shoes or light hiking boots will provide support, yet allow enough range of motion for the yoga postures. Tennis shoes are also fine.
3) Sunglasses and/or a hat are recommended. Sunblock may also be necessary.
4) Bring a water bottle or a drink for hydration.
5) Tissue paper may be a good idea if you need to use the "facilities" behind a tree or bush. There are bathrooms at the parking area you can use at the beginning and end of the hike.
